Cookletter of the month - August, 2010
PozytywnaKuchnia
Does cooking play an important role in your life? It has started with the hobby somewhere between high school and university studies. Slowly it grew into my passion and become an idea for my own business. I hope that one day I'll say that cooking is not only my passion but also my main source of income. At the moment I still do few other things too but everything seems to be going in the right direction.
When did you start your adventure with culinary delights? As a little girl I used to help my mom and my grandmother with sticking dumplings. I also liked placing some small bowls on a floor, in one row side by side and putting some whine beans, red beans and other ingredients in my own way of order, pretending to do some cooking. I guess it all really started then.
How does Pozytywna Kuchnia look behind the scenes?Looks like being always impatient (laugh). I can't leave the oven when I am baking a cake. I keep waiting until it can be taken out and eaten. You need to be well organised when you do the cooking, filming and photography. In my kitchen there is a lot of space but when there are many things around the table (lamps, blends, tripods, camcorder), you have a camera in one hand and a gray photoboard in the other one it gets a bit crowded in there. All ingredients and utensils need to be prepared before cooking. I can't afford to move various equipment, search for a missing pan or spoon while cooking and filming at the same time.
Is there any dish you like cooking the most?I fell in love with creamy cheesecake and could prepare it all the time in many different combinations. Recently my favorite one is New York Cheesecake (http://cooklet.com/Recipe/details/355/New-York-Cheesecake).
What kind of cuisine do you prefer?Generally I prefer light and healthy food that you can prepare with passion and pleasure. I love meals that can be prepared in a short time without many complicated ingredients, that taste and look perfectly on a plate. It's a real feast for the eyes, smell and taste this way.
Is there any person that inspires you?I've been lately inspired by the story of Julia Child (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julia_Child) and I'd love to have the same great contact with my viewers. And her personality! Not to mention about writing a huge cookbook with my own recipes :).
What advice would you give to those who are starting to cook?First of all, begin with the simplest dishes and keep practising until you master. Remember, that taste is most important but also keep an eye on aesthetics and always try to avoid mistakes you made in the past. Be your own critic and listen to what other people say about your meals. Above all treat cooking as your pleasure, passion and fun. If you put some love into cooking, the food is always better.
What do you like in Cooklet platform? That you gave me the title “Cookletter of the month”! (laughs). The platform is clear and new recipes can be added easily. The most important is that I can reach new readers especially those who live abroad – my recipes are translated into English automatically. The cookbook functionality is very nice – it’s a great way of collecting recipes, especially for those who travel a lot, move a lot or simply don’t have enough place in their kitchens to keep tons of paper books.
